What makes the jump up on airsoft guns and why is it necessary?

I have a few airsoft guns, as the Warrior L96, D-95 MP5 G36C and P99. And in most of the videos I've seen mentioned a jump to function, which is a jump up, thanks.

What it does is give effect the BB that makes plastic blow up and business trips. It is usually a piece of plastic that is stuck in the barrel of the gun. In most weapons is adjustable. Weapons they have there is a small bar that can slide and can activate or deactivate the jump up. I do not think it necessary but is useful when long-distance trips. Hope this helps!
